¿Y? Me voy a recibir? Puede ser....

So.... graduation drama has been dominating my life lately. Last thursday I received an e-mail from the all powerful graduation lady who has to approve everything you've ever taken and say if you've completed all the requirements. She basically holds everyone in the college of education and health professions graduations in her hands. WELL, she decided that I hadn't met the fine arts requirements, because basically, I hadn't. But in my defense, I had had 2, that's dos! separate advisors (both of whom I consider to be pretty wise and knowledgeable people) tell me that my 2 2000 level Spanish classes would fulfill that requirements under the humanities category D. The graduation lady apparently disagreed. Meanwhile, my advisor is out of town for the week, and wants me to talk to a high up person in the department, who wants me to talk to the graduation lady, who wants me to talk to my advisor, who wants me to talk to.... get the picture? vicious cycle. But finally, after talking with and e-mailing all of them, I secured a meeting with the graduation lady. She proceded to explain to me that if I switched course catalogs to 08-09, the Spanish would meet one of the requirements. But not the other. I needed a fine arts. I did not want to take a fine arts. She wanted me to take a fine arts. I suggested maybe making one of the spanish lit classes or classes I'd had in Argentina count as a separate humanities category C. She said that's not a fine arts category A or B. I said that although I understood it didn't meet the requirements, it seemed crazy to me that 160 plus hours (the general requirement for graduation is 124) is still not enough. She sighed and said she thought it would be. She looked at my overachieving, 160 plus hours, honors, study abroading transcript and let me count both the spanish classes as fine arts. En fin, I'm going to graduate after all. HOORAY!!!! Then I got a parking ticket. But when the graduation lady tells you she'll meet with you with a half hour's notice and there are 0 open student spots on campus, you just do it. 3.25 years down, 27 weeks to go!!!
